I’m going to be posting all of my code on GitHub to keep it easily available for anyone who wants to peek around behind the scenes. The repo is right here.

I’m going to be using Java, LibGDX, Eclipse, Paint.NET, and Bosca Ceoil. Good luck to everyone!

My 2nd Ludum Dare

I feel like I need a break from the other game I’m working on, so I’m doing the Ludum Dare again. I don’t feel very confident this time around, so I’m not sure if I’ll do very well. Anyway, here’s most of the stuff I’ll be using:

  • Java inside the Eclipse IDE
  • The LibGDX game framework
  • Paint.NET to draw my (not very good) graphics
  • (Possibly) Box2D Physics Engine, and Box2DLights as a lighting engine.
  • SFXR for sound effects
  • As for music, I have no idea. If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me!
  • I’ll probably make some base code tomorrow, so if I do, then I’ll upload it here!

Good luck to everyone, and have fun 😀

My Game (So far)

So I decided to make a game where you and 4 other miners are trapped underground. Part of the mine caved in, and you only have a limited number of supplies. You have to worry about giving rations of food and water to other people, using the medicine wisely, and other things like that. It’s sort of inspired by the decision-based part of FTL, and the keeping-your-family-alive part of Papers, Please. I’ve finished the graphics and UI, so now I have to worry about the actual gameplay. Here’s a picture of the game so far.

My first Ludum Dare

So I’ve gotten pretty good at coding lately, and I think I’m ready to make a game. This is my first ludum dare, so I probably won’t do very well, but I want to try this out anyway.

  • Language: Java
  • Library: LibGDX
  • IDE: Eclipse
  • Graphics: Paint.NET
  • Sound: SFXR
  • Music: LMMS (I’m not good at making music, but I’m going to give it a shot)

My goal is to just finish a game. It doesn’t have to be good, as long as it’s a complete game. I’ve never completed a game before (I just made some simple experiments), so I hope to finish this game.
