I finally decided on a name:

I spent most of the day today to create the effect you see here: (Spatters, trails etc).

Tomorrow I will have to create some actual gameplay!

I’m opting for a simple art style this time, as I got some feedback last time that it was a mixed back of chaos. :-)

Starting to get hyped!

I’ll use my open source game engine as a base this time as well: https://github.com/dkoding/ludum-engine – and you can too!

It is based on LibGDX/Java.

For sound I’ll use sfxr/bfxr or record and distort my own voice.

For music the good old jcgMusic, probably do some conversion to a chiptune.

Audacity for sound editing, Gimp for gfx editing, InkScape and my tablet to draw.

I have ideas for the themes ‘A world in the skies’ and ‘You are the monster’, either of those are fine.

‘Beyond the wall’ is an obvious Game of Thrones reference… The other themes need a little bit more thought.

7 hours to go!

I’m in!

LD32 was too much fun to not join this time as well. :-)

Hopefully I will place better this time!

Lesson learned: Less is more!

Good luck everyone!

Unfortunately the timelapse is for the first day only, as my computer decided to collapse in the middle of day 2!

I was lucky to salvage this lot…

Hope you enjoy it!

How to record a small film strip from your game

So how to add a video like this for your game?

Install Fraps or your favorite game screen recording tool.

Install VirtualDub

Open and edit your video in VirtualDub

Add filters: Menu/Video/Filters/Add… and add the select 2:1 reduction (high quality) twice to create a video with quarter of the size

Change framerate: Menu/Video/Frame rate/Change frame rate to 25 fps

File/Export/Animated gif, select target, and choose ‘Infinite loop’.

You’re all set! Don’t forget to rate my game SLICK LICKER!
