LadyBug post jam update 0.3

For everyone who’s played LadyBug and enjoyed it, you might want to check out the new version that’s available through itch.io right now. It contains:

  • 3 new stages
  • scientists that walk around
  • less spikes more bug zappers
  • an overview of how long it took you to complete all the stages at the end of the game (so you can see how fast you can complete all the stages!)
  • several small bug fixes and improvements

To show that you CAN complete all the stages (even if it’s a bit unfair at times) here’s a complete play through. With some of the tougher parts that required several runs sped up to make it a pretty short video.

There where a couple of small things that could really use some changes, so here is the post jam version of the game: kingpenguin.itch.io/ladybug



Changes include:

  • A new camera system. The old system just wasn’t very good at bigger stages
  • A couple of alternative controls
  • Guards now shoot less erratic and they have an alert fase. This fase triggers when they first spot you, and gives you a quarter of a second before they start shooting (which is actually quit a lot).
  • Guards have been redistributed in some of the stages to make it more fun/challenging
  • There’s now a timer on screen so you can speedrun the stages if the normal challenge of clearing the stages isn’t enough
  • A few other small things

O man, there’s so much little stuff to do to make it all make sense… But, there’s still 9 hours left (and there’s always the option to just make it a Jam thing). Maybe I’ll make some music first, have a bit of a change of pace…

Took me a while to get started and think of something, but I think it’s going pretty well right now. Gotta finish up the gameplay tomorrow and then spend the remaining time polishing I guess. Maybe add some music/sound, and more graphic stuff if I have the time.
