Dev buying time

Hello, I buy your time at a good price. Travel machines accepted…

So I think I have over estimated my free time for this week-end.

It will be hard to finish, I start my dev day now!

I really hope I will be able to finish a game which deserve that name.

Here a little screen I hope you will enjoy, positive feedback are welcome for motivation, we are all in the same boat, and it will sink in 11 hours ;p

Good dev all.

I may be in ^^

Not sure yet I’ll have time but I start to game design so I’m in^^

Coding: html5, maybe with phaser, or belle

Graphics: gimp, svg

Audio: audacity and a tracker

I’m pretty sure it will be kind of visual novel gameplay, maybe tweaked if I have time.

An unconventional weapon story begins!

My code base

Posted by (twitter: @vcarluer)
Friday, April 25th, 2014 6:07 pm

I’ve developed javascript html 5 utilitary classes during my warmup.

I will use this code as a base for my ludum dare compo, don’t hesitate to pick info in it if you want: https://bitbucket.org/vcarluer/1gam0414/src/1615dade427c6cb44893b626828089e68de3071a/src2/?at=master

image loader

audio loader

event factory

canvas loader

simple tmx file reader

simple translation service

main loop update service

A sprite renderer

And some reference code like tweening, etc…

Have fun with ld 29!

My second time in

I’m here most of the week end but breaks are good to think ^^

I will certainly use javascript with WebStorm editor for code.

My graphic tools will be gimp and pyxel edit.

Don’t know for sound now. bfxr, etc… certainly

I may stream if I find time to know how to do that (have to finish onegameamonth sic) or at least I will do a timelapse.

I wish a good time to all other participants.

I wanted to do the Ludum Dare and they tried to stop me.
I realized my compo in only 1 hour and… ok it sucks but I wanted so much to submit 😀

The essence of video game in one game: MINIMALISLM.
Be surprised, be frustrated and fill maybe the power in you.
Enjoy graphic art mastery and make talk the interface between the man and the computer.
Will you be smart enough to find the essential form of video game?

Tiny Galaxy on Chrome Web Store

Tiny Galaxy is now available on Chrome Web Store 😀

The game is online and has no ads. Even if I don’t plan to make money with it I hope it will have enough visibility among the lot of games in store!

It is version 1 completly debugged with tuned gameplay. There are no really new stuffs but the ability to destroy blue bridges.

I hope you will enjoy it! Give me stars ;p
Have Fun.

I had some problems to make it work but after some technical optimizations I can propose you now an html 5 version of Tiny Galaxy.

It may be simpler than the java one for some to test.

I kept the exact gameplay (with its flaws) and there is a small problem with music loop. but that’s all.

Please comment 😀 http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-23/?action=preview&uid=11818

An Android version is in preparation too!

Wow!! This was my first Ludum Dare and it was quite challenging!

I tried to do an arcade survival game based on tiny world theme.

I’m glad because after some levels, a kind of pacman’s gameplay has emerged and add to the original idea.

I hope you will like it 😀

– The warmup phase made me ready as it needed

– Time management was hard because of personal life activities but I managed to get 22 hours to develop

– Full game released (even if I have a lot more ideas^^)

– A littre more time needed to make animations and hud

– 1 bug which can sometimes block player I needed to fix after release

– Really tired (in France event ends at 3am, not optimal for day work ;p)

– Accept to do “bad code” to continue development and release in time

– Really small pixel design

– Ludum Dare is a great event 😀

Please rate it!

Debugging submission

I found a very little bug in my submission for the compo.

It is not critical and I may let it in place (tired!!)  but to know is it possible to  release a new version after the end of event?

With the same idea is it possible to modifiy the content of the game after event (new animations, items…)? This is just to know.

Thank you.

Compo done!!

After a difficult start (18:00 pm yesterday France time zone), I managed to release the game I want 😀

I’m really happy to have done this Ludum Dare and I think I’ve learned a lot!

It’s impressive to  see all the games released and the level of quality.

I hope you will have fun with my game Tiny Galaxy and congrats to all participants!!

A coder’s graphic training

Posted by (twitter: @vcarluer)
Friday, April 20th, 2012 4:51 pm

One of my worst skill is graphic art. I tried today to level up my skills in order to be ready for Ludum Dare (and I like it too despite the result I usually get).

Here the work of a coder with no graphic skill trying to draw based on pure draw techniques (main tutorial used: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JySBAHUplY&context=C40cf215ADvjVQa1PpcFOJD_qGVAyyCA2WYocty9mlyAzknFm5ySQ=)

I know it’s bad but i’m a developer 😀

I still hope some will enjoy this manga style Ludum Dare  girl.

I trained too 2 points perspective based on this awesome tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmSg_F4P5yU&context=C414a6ccADvjVQa1PpcFMXosCRFTFAGVpoQyZxPNVauucZqtNiV7c=

And the last and yes the least, a pixel art training on shading (and poor drawing too) with Gimp on a 64×64 image:

Good tuto here:

For information I will commit source on my github: https://github.com/vcarluer

I don’t know where I will post info, certainly on google+ https://plus.google.com/u/0/109420103473906739180/posts ( i will try to write in english)

And I may do a timelapse, or not.

Have fun everybody!
