Awwwww, here it goes
I think I’ll make another HTML5 game, gonna develop on my chrome book this time (running ubuntu). Gimp for art, sfxr for sound
This time I’ll be using Python 2.7 with pygame, sfxr for sound effects, Paint and Paint.NET for graphics, git for source control (will have a repo on github) and Notepad++ and vim for editors.
One of my goals is to make sure it runs fine on both Linux and Windows.
Good luck to all, here’s to another fun ludum dare!
10 seconds. That’s what you need. You are a dictator of a small country who just gained admittance to the Olympic games. You’ve staked your entire fortune on the fact that your country will win exactly 10 silver medals. You have exactly 10 athletes competing in 10 different events. Make it happen.
Here’s what I’ve got so far: Tic Toc Tac Toe (Formerly known as Infinite Tic Tac Toe, I like the new name more). I really like making web games for these type of events so I can send the link out immediately and get people playing it as soon as possible. (This is up at github)
My biggest hurdle was just starting and coming up with something to fit the theme. I did have an Arduino and I planned to make Potato Says (Like the electronic toy/game Simon, but with a potato) but I didn’t have all the required parts. I’m getting them though and Potato Says is definitely happening when I’m stocked up 😀
Alright, I’m taking a different approach this year. Instead of staying up crazy hours, missing meals, etc… I have sacrifice many dev hours up front getting a good night’s sleep. I woke up, worked out, made a hearty breakfast and relaxed for a moment. We’ll see if my health driven development pays off!
Alright, this is going to be a rough one for me since I’ll be at a developer conference part of the day Saturday but I’m doing it. For tools, I’ll probably make a game using Coffeescript and Crafty.js, using vim and chrome for development and debugging. For sound, sfxr and audacity are my poison of choice. I tend to go Paint.NET for graphics but I’m kinda starting to like Pickle, we’ll see. OR, depending on the theme, I may attempt to make a game using nothing but a potato. It’s up to fate.
