About DaveDobson

I teach geology and programming at Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. I've been fiddling with games since Commodore PET days. I've had some success in the past (Snood, Centaurian, Chowder, Snoodoku). Just finished my third LD (#26) - a lot of fun.

My top ten for LD26 so far

I just hit a hundred ratings, and I thought I’d post some of the best ones.  I took all ratings I gave (including all categories, even the weird ones like humor and mood) and averaged the score.  So, these aren’t necessarily the best games, but they have the highest average score of the ones I rated.

Here they are:

PHILIP KLAS — neight

SDFJKL — Dining Philosopher (50) *

XYZ — ataxkt

Be Still — metadept

Art Critic — sanojian (38)

Title: Subtitle — LizEngland

Hito — lucas_gaspar

Union — theplotlessplot

Minimalism Tower Defence — Dew

Join — Perry

All of these caught my interest for one reason or another – mostly just picking off the default list, but I tended to focus on JavaScript or web browser games because that’s what I’ve been into creating recently.  I also rated many of the people who commented on mine – still catching up with that.  And some I saw mentioned in the forums or by others.  It’s been fun seeing what everyone came up with.

Free to check out my humble offering, Composition with Red, Yellow, and Blue:

I’ve rated 75 so far.  Here are my top eleven, determined by combined rating points, given here in alphabetical order:

Alien Archaeologist jplur
Backyard Pirates bompo
Cylcubere Origins Birchmountain
Drill It!: Demolition Co. Julian Spillane
Little Sheep Alexandre
My Kid Dropped The Planet MadGnomeGamer
Nina Nueve Jonathan Whiting
Primordial Smackdown: Bacteria with Badditude Vilborg
Shoebox World sanojian
Stampede at the Crooked Thorax Ranch mimshwright
Stranded Evil Cult

I liked these for very different reasons – some are fun, some have a very cool underlying concept, some are elegant games, some have great art and sound – but they were the ones I gave the best numbers to.
