Migration to new site

Friday, September 27th, 2019 9:09 pm

Is there anyway I can get my link of games over to my account on the new website?

WIP 1 WIP 2 WIP 3 WIP 4 WIP 5 WIP 6 WIP 7These are some of the things I have so far, on my first day. I am doing the jam. No main objectives yet, just fooling around with what I know. 😀

I’m in!

Friday, April 17th, 2015 7:23 pm

I’ll be participating in Ludum Dare again, for the fourth time in a row! I hope I’ll make a game that out-does my previous games.

I won’t be starting today, however, due to my beliefs, so for times like this, I usually begin on Sundays, and finish on the Monday (last day). However, Monday I have school again, so I’ll be trying to make the game in only 12 hours. (24 hours for Sunday, but I have to sleep, chores, and other things). It should be easy, because I’ve known people that make fairly good games in two hours, and it’s not always about winning, right. XD

Well, I’ll be live-streaming around that time, so follow my twitch if you want to get a message when I’ve began streaming.

I’m sure it will be lots of fun, but for now, good luck!

Dani Coder

Monday, March 30th, 2015 11:50 am

Dani Coder is a software I’ve been making, to help people easily and freely make games. It has it’s own language I call Dani Code, and you can test out your games, and publish them, for other people to play! I doubt it’ll be out for this upcoming Ludum Dare, but I hope people can use it to make their games for LD one day. Here’s some progress.

Progress on OnTurned Characters

Sunday, January 4th, 2015 12:27 pm

So this is the progress on the characters for the game:

Picture 1 shows a random character. That is what the artist drew to show me his view of the player, and some of his work. I explained a little 14-17 year old dude and a bit more cartoon-ey.

Picture 2 shows the boy. He drew that after in about 3 minutes on the track-pad of his laptop. I then explained how the characters should be bald and in their under-wears, since the player choose their hairstyle at the start and find clothes in the game.

Picture 3 shows the boy, with less sturdy shoulders, bald and bear back, with a shorts. We began discussing the female; curvy waist, smooth face, small nose, smooth legs, feeble feet (cat) less broad shoulders, and small brain ? JK you guys are really intelligent!

Picture 4 shows the first transition of the girl. The artist came to me for help on the fac, since he was stuck. I told him it should be kinda cone-looking to the chin, or pointy.

Picture 5 shows the girl finally the way we agreed, since he wanted to do it rough since it’d be unique to that of other games. I warned him not to miss out any space, since we’d need to colour them.

Picture 6 shows the 2 characters coloured. We stopped sharing photos then, and he’ll start doing the art of the different directions. Sometime when offline.

Do not worry about the head. Like I said, you can choose your own hair styles.

Also, there are of course clothes for males, and females. But we decided to make the males with animations with the female clothes (skirts) and females with male clothes (3/4 jeans) just in case. Since you know people, they’d wear anything, although it’s stupid, but we’re trying to stick to realism as much as we could. Does that idea sound good anyway?

Tips for next Ludum Dare and any other Jam

Thursday, December 11th, 2014 10:22 am

Game levels:

There are some games that lead you to another level, but just the same scene over and over, just with shifting of screen and stuff like that. User tend to get annoyed, especially when they do not tell you how many levels, and then after a difficult level, you go back to a static screen as level 1: Rage quitting!

Please guys, at least two levels can add more fun to the game, and time user needs to play it.

Multiplayer (2 player):

There is a numerous number of games, where you can play with another player no the same keyboard (or game-pad) . But think guys, what about single sibling gamedevs/players?

Wouldn’t it be nicer to make a 1 player mode, where he can play against a CPU, and a 2 player mode, in case he has a friend, which in both modes he still gets the same feel of the game?

Multiplayer (online servers):

There are really cool looking games that you can play online by joining a server, and fight/work with other players. However, there are many times only 1 person is testing/playing your game, and would just move around in the empty void looking for a meaning to his existence in the game. I’ve experienced that as well.

Wouldn’t it be much better if you added at least one robot or more, that’d act like a player on the server (maybe a different colour or named bot_348) so even lonely players can enjoy the aspects in the world, and even several players still playing and having fun even while spamming the bots to death? XD

Unbeatable games?:

Of course, if your game is ‘unbeatable’ player ought you rate you low. But what if the game isn’t ‘unbeatable’, but just the players cannot beat it? They would still rate you low, thinking that it is ‘unbeatable’.

Why not make a video of beating it, just as the same as you make time-lapses of your games? Or find a video someone made on how to beat your game, and send a link to that video instead? :)

I could not add in this to me game, so I’m out:

I’ve read many of these posts while the jam was still going on. Either users think they would not have enough time, or they do not know how to add it and give up.

You’ve already gotten countless features in your game, so use it as a prototype for when you actually figure out how to add in those features.

You can also decide to leave out voting categories in case you could not add in music in time, or the game was filled with moving boxes, and gamers are so user friendly, even during rage quitting, they still leave awesome comments, and even if it is a 30 second game, who knows, it might be re-played hundreds of times, just to experience that fun again!

Also, nothing is wrong with google-ing how to draw in text box in flash, or how to enable full-screen in Unity (Jam members, not sure about Compo) It does not even matter if you forgot a line in Java as to how to import a class, or make the JFrame work, and scratch, of you’ve drawn the character in the opposite direction that you wanted it to be!

Don’t let that stop you!

Think about it guys, there are really many things that let us down about our games, or others about it, and there are many ways to deal with them.

Just be patient and do not give up. Even the community give you help for your games, tell you what to take out, and even ideas while livestreaming it, and/or tell you the lines of code you wrote that gave the game the error that you could not fix! 😀

Also, if you’ve got any more tips while in the process of game making, please comment them below. :3

First name streak ever!

Tuesday, December 9th, 2014 7:24 am

So we’ve successfully completed Ludum Dare 31. Congratulations everyone that participated, or supported through live streams everywhere!

Beginning next year, I’m gonna have each submission with the same name and characters/ scene, and story-line, but just tweak each game to suit the theme.  Of course, I’d do every thing from scratch, and even the animations/ backgrounds, unless I’m doing a jam!

I challenge you to participate in this too!

Trouble naming my game.

Sunday, December 7th, 2014 7:31 pm

I’m having trouble naming my game, so would you guys test it and suggest a title?

I’m not done with the graphics or music (the entire game) yet, I just need a title.

Test play it here: http://danidre14.wix.com/danidre14#!athlete-life/c1aep

Progress on my game I began 14 hours ago.

Sunday, December 7th, 2014 5:45 am

At first, I livestreamed it, but that caused my laptop to really waste energy, and slow down. So I’ll be entering the jam instead, which gives me more time to do things.

I’ve only added level 2 out of 5 so far, but hopefully when I’m done with that and music, I’ll be able to sweeteb up the art style! XDLD Menu

I will be participating in this next Ludum Dare

Friday, August 22nd, 2014 8:53 am

So I had a boat trip due tomorrow, and that might have stopped me from participating, but not anymore! The trip was pushed back until next week, allowing me to participate in the Jam! 😀

I’ll most likely be in for this Ludum Dare for the second time, but I might end up doing the Jam, since one of the days it is going on I’ll be in a boat for like 9 hours with no internet, travelling to another country. I ended up doing the jam last time becasue of a similar reason, but I’ll still try to do a 24hr compo. If I get to participate, the tools I’ll be using would be:

Adobe Flash Proffesional CS6 (AFP): AS2 (Action Script 2) For the programming.(I’m good at that)

Paint.net/AFP: For the sprites, art.(I kinda suck at pixel art)

SFXR/BFXR/JFXR: For the sound effects.(Very, very, basic sound effects)

LMMS/FL Studio/Bosca Ceiol/PixiTrack: For the game music .(I’m still crappy at all of ’em)

This time I hope that I can get to win a chance to submit a compo instead of a jam, and play everyone’s 1st prize deserved games! Hopefully I’ll be giving out lots of trophies to maybe the top 10, or top 50, and I might do videos of the games too!

See ya guys while livestreaming!

Team Up For The LD Jam

Sunday, April 20th, 2014 9:41 am

Hey, Ludum Dare is coming up, and some people are more interested in jams than compos. I would like to team up with anyone who have and knows about the following so that we could make an awesome game together:
Software-Macromedia Flash/Adobe Flash
Language-AS2 (ActionScript2)
I currently do not know what is the Theme for Ludum Dare, so I’m trying to get a group so we can be ready by the time it begins. I would like someone who knows how to do make music to make it for the game, and I would like people who could do really good art to do the animations and art style, as well as songs for the animations. I would also like more Programmers who know ActionScript 2, to help out with the game-making becuase that’d make it easier and faster. I would like people who are willing to do these things for free because Ludum Dare is just a fun and free site, so making the games are all for fun and experience. If you are doing the Ludum Dare and using the ActionScript2 language, and want to work in a group, or know how to make music and animations and programme, and want to work in a group, or just a random fella out there that read this and want to help out for free, contact me at danidre14@gmail.com . Ludum dare starts in a week so lets all get this settled and not wait until last minute. If you do not know about Ludum Dare, check it out here: http://www.ludumdare.com/ . To get more information click on compo and read through of if you’re to lazy copy amd go to this link here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/rules/ . I hope some people or at least one person is interested in this and please contact me before last minute.
