VENA Game

Though I would show my progress. Making a little shmup where your a nano machine fighting of and evolving virus. Have most of the basic items set up just need to add animations/sprites for everything, add a UI and get the virus evolving.
Have a small issue with the Enemies not firing until they are a fully on the screen which I may try and fix nearer the end. Just wish I has minus coordinates ;_;.

Trying for a second time

So for LD23 I used the Gamboy Advanced for my platform though it failed missrably I have reworked a lot of stuff and ready for a second time (though Im sure it will do just a badly as last time)

So i’ll be using:

DevKitPro for the compiler
my custom library thing based around libtonc
Paint.net for graphics
and I have no idea what to do for music yet

This time I hope I end up with a game that a broken mess haha

Forgot to post this a while ago to make it valid for the competition after  reading the rules again on code base.

This is my own (poorly written c) helper base codes for the GBA and Devkitpro.

They provide no gameplay code or game code but rather have functions to assist with loading, drawn, configuring, font and a few address locations which I will need to use a lot.

There is also 2 tools I wrote myself (again poor c# code) which convert bitmap data into raw OBJ sprite data and can also create a tile map with collision.

I don’t think anyone will find any use for them at all since they output to a .h file (really need to learn how to load binary files in my make file and load the data in) in a format that is familiar to me.

I posted a while ago about doing a GBA game and im still going with it even after I found out I couldn’t take the 21st off work so -8 hours for me.

Tools I will be using:

DevKitPro – for the core library files

Paint.Net – for all the graphics

BFXR – sound effects

Milkytracker – If I have time to make some awful music

Then a few of my own tools to create sprite and tiles sets.

Looking forward to this to see what I can actually achieve in 40 hours.

Couple of questions about LD

Hi,

I’ve recently been interested in taking part in the upcoming LD#23 but I was wondering if we can choose any platform we wish.

I’m a bit of an amateur GBA programmer and have been working to build a small library and tool set for use with another upcoming GameJam  but was wondering If im free to use it for LD#23.

I would be using lbigba from devkit pro so its a homebrew library for the GBA.

Also for the GBA I’ve been building a function library and memory definition library which has not been complied into a library and is just raw c and h file would this still be fine to use?

If not I can jump back into XNA.
