They’re the cream of the crop!

Feint Signal by brxtr:

Very nice. This is truly excellent. Great work for 48 hours. Here because of the 10s video and how great it shows. Nice work.

imy by Ditto:

Simply amazing. This is the best ld26 game I’ve played. Maybe the best indie game in a while. Excellent work!

Minimal 2 Player Game by NiallM:

Awesome. This is great. Love the progression – was confused a bit that the ball was still going when it switched to flags. Loved the visuals and sounds. Pulled here by the 10s video. Excellent!

Sick. This is really cool. Great work! Love the music fade in, the mechanic, the style, and the polish. Excellent. I was pulled in by the 10sec video just based on how it looked.

RED by Tiago

Very cool! Great minimal horror game. Pulled here by the 10s video and almost the logo alone. Excellent work. Love the time mechanic with the light going out. Nice.

And finally a shameless plug:

I found most of these from the 10s video that Codexus put together!

Life! – my rhythm based life simulator nearly finished!

Life has turned out to be an interesting little game. It’s a rhythm based life simulator which puts you head to head with the desires and needs of John Albertson.

Gameplay feels like Rockband or something similar. Patterns are all procedural.

In addition, John’s story unfolds as you play. Will he get married? Will he retire? Will he be rich? You decide.

I’ll be wrapping it up tomorrow afternoon. In the mean time check it out!

Check it out here.

My game is a mix-up on an RPG of sorts, played as a minimal rhythm based game.

Everything that is there is necessary.

Maximize your life by minimizing waste.

FirePower! Post Competition Version

Posted by
Friday, December 28th, 2012 7:55 pm

Cheered on by comments from reviewers, I took to making a post competition version of FirePower.

My primary goal was addressing some of the feedback by looking to add depth and end game elements.  In addition, I wanted to spin  the new version off in about the same amount of time that the original version took.

I think I was successful in both of those goals.  I completed the update in about 25 hours bringing the total for the whole game to around 50.

New features:

  • Dynamic terrain
  • New elements to deal with
  • Infinite replayability – the game procedurally adjusts difficulty sliders
  • Better graphics
  • Better balance
  • Better audio implementaiton

Check it out here and let me know what you think!

Here‘s the original submission if you haven’t had a chance to rate it yet.

Here’s the latest with FirePower!

The game puts you in the role of a savage god who has power over fire and water.  Fire feeds your power by burning things – without burning things, you’ll surely die.  Unfortunately, fire has a mind of it’s own and can spread uncontrolled.  To counteract this you have water.  Use it to keep the fire at bay and stay alive.

Can you overcome your the inner struggle of good versus evil to reach ultimate power?

Left click drops fire; Right click drops water.  If you run out of yellow, you lose.

Based on the chosen theme, I decided to make a game in which you had to be a villain to live, but being too evil would actually kill you.  Based on that, I landed on Firepower!

You are the god of fire!  Burn things to quench your thirst for power.  Burn everything and you die of thirst.

First playable

Click to make fire.  The bar up top represents your power.  When it runs out, you lose.

I’m streaming here.

Feedback appreciated!

My first Ludum Dare! Here’s my setup.

This is my first Ludum Dare!

I’m a professional developer by trade, but love to tinker with games and hobby projects on during my free time.  What better way to run through a hobby project than Ludum Dare!

I’m planning to submit a game to the competition, and as such wanted to declare my setup.
