Rating abuse

Hi everyone! I noticed some strange things in the rating process. Some entries have a crazy amount of coolness (=how many entries they rated). Let’s take for instance the top entry by coolness which has currently over 260, while being alone (since he is in the compo competition).

Let’s do some math:

The compo round ended 36 hours ago. Two nights happened since. If the author of the entry sleeps 8 hours during the night, and I assume he does, there is only 20 hours left for rating entries.

(20 * 60) / 260 = 4.6 minutes.

Assuming that he is spending 16 hours a day rating games, it means that he is rating 1 game every 4.6 minutes. Can someone believe he is even starting the games?

And he is not the only one.

Need another proof? The fun thing is that I register on my server whenever someone starts my game so I can precisely tell if someone tried the game since the last time I checked. Guess what? I am gaining some ratings while my game is not played.

I don’t expect anything, and I know we can’t do much against it. I just wanted to share this issue with you. Maybe we could detect this kind of behavior automatically?

I’m (probably) in for this miniLD. I’m trying Unity for the first time so I’m not sure I will be able to finish my not game.

My idea:

Seems that I will make a game where the player walks in a dark forest by night with only a flashlight. Strange noises and shadows scheduled.

If anyone knows Unity: Can you help me to understand something strange with lightning? Why some far trees are lighten up while the floor is not lighten up as far?

Evolution!

Hi !

I liked so much LD23 that I was waiting for this one since… the end of LD23! :)
Last time i made a game about Cthulhu getting bigger and bigger and finally the world seemed ‘tiny’.
If it fits the theme, i will try to use Cthulhu again in my game because he is cool :)
Maybe “Cthulhu vs 1000 kittens” ? 😀
I will use Java, libGDX, GIMP, and SFXR.
My game will be available on Windows, Linux, Mac, Web, and Android.
Have fun!
