Here’s some screenshots of my near-complete game! I have a timelapse in the making as well.

Final project for my Java class

Hey Ludum Dare!

It’s been a while, but I haven’t strayed away from coding random little projects! For my java class I made a cool little particle simulator, it’s not done yet but I think it’s pretty cool. It’s made in Processing

2016-02-28 (28) 2016-02-28 (33) 2016-02-28 (34) 2016-02-29 (3) 2016-03-01 (2)

A Youtube video is soon to come

Left mouse button to add particles

Hold right mouse button to have particles gravitate toward the mouse

W and S add upward and downward gravity respectively

Q and A add friction upward and downward respectively

B turns the blackhole on and off

Spacebar turns the background on and off

Escape to exit the app

If you have Java 8 on your computer, download this link

Otherwise, download this hefty file

Once downloaded, just extract the zip file, open the folder, and run GodGame.exe

This Mini Ludum Dare will be *AMAZING*

So I’m currently attending UCSC and part of the community called Kresge. I’m taking a core class focused on power and representation, and I decided I’m going to do it on this mini LD, with a focus on how game developers use Rhetoric to convey a message to their players. I’ve never really attempted to create a “Message” behind my game, but so far I’m thinking about focusing on either racial inequality, corporate monotony, or sexuality.

Wish me luck, I’ll be presenting the game and talking about Ludum Dare in front of hundreds of students at my college.

I’m in for the X time

Starting to feel like I’ve been in too many times to count, even though I just discovered LD a few years ago!

I’ll be using Unity3d (Or 2d if I get a specific idea for whatever the theme might be)

If I do stick with 3d, I’ll use Maya to 3d model although I haven’t quite learned how to rig animations in game yet, so I’ll have to get creative

Sound effects will of course be made with my mouth, and images will probably be made in photoshop or paint.net

I’m pretty excited for this one, it’s my last Ludum Dare before I go off to college at UC Santa Cruz!

Yes, I’m in

And of course, with a new found love for 3d modeling in Maya. I’ll be using Unity in C# and attempting to make pretty models in Maya and improve on the graphics category.

I finally got around to uploading my timelapse :)

This has easily been my most successful Ludum Dare entry yet, I didn’t necessarily challenge myself with any super new concepts; but that’s ok! I think I put together a solid game that I can really keep working on after the contest ends, and I am super happy with the result!

Good luck, and let the voting commence!

Quick question

If I just supply all files where my unity exe built to, which includes all of my assets and scripts and such, is that enough for source code? Copying and pasting was obnoxious last time

Finally finished placing classrooms

Doesn’t look like much but in game the classes randomly open, I just have to create different images for each class, or scale them better.

My game is currently called “Hallway Hero”, you play a student who excels in creating paper airplanes, setting up traps to avoid ambushes, and overall being the best bully in the school! You throw paper airplanes at your enemies (Other students) and may run into some colored construction paper for powered planes, such as red construction paper being an explosive airplane. Watch out for teachers though! If they see you in the act, you will earn demerits based on your offense and lose at 100 demerits. This game is still very much a work in progress and features are being added by the hour!

The first picture show off the minimap, your character, and some of the classrooms, the second picture shows off the current map, all dark gray blobs are classrooms I need to implement, the 3rd picture shows the enemy on screen and you shooting a paper airplane! Most images are currently placeholders.

I made a time lapse of my 48 hour coding adventure :D

Making a multiplayer game

I started coding right off the bat, but just now feel confident enough that I will actually finish it. Was really iffy with photon for about 2 hours when I couldn’t find a solution to my problem anywhere but finally got it fixed and now, here’s my progress 😀  Not the most descriptive images, but they’re from a timelapse at a 1 minute interval. Essentially it’s a “whose who is who’s” type thing where you have to identify all of your little enemies based on ways they act around you and not other people in your game, and the first person to identify all 10 of theirs wins.  screen_1417875585.24 screen_1417875950.28 screen_1417875767.76 screen_1417859158.33

Of course I’m in!

This LD I think I’m going to use Unity and maybe try and fit in my new ability to use Photon (Multiplayer games) into it as well, I’m not dead set on that though. I’m still not familiar with 3d modeling programs so I’d have to keep it simple but still make it look good. That’ll be a challenge using cubes spheres and capsules lol. Other than that, sounds will likely be made from my mouth (typical) and I’ll be flyin solo as always
