24 Hour countdown to cosmic love!

With the 24 hour countdown looming, we’re all really excited here at Team Perfect Match! Ryan has been tearing through code, Jason has been generating a bunch of bleeps and Ben has been burning pixels. Star-crossed Lovers (our planet-smashing dating sim) is taking shape!


We’re really looking forward to spending this final day finishing it off and polishing it up as best we can.

So far, we’ve been mostly focused on the game show aspect of SxL. Guiding us through the action, we have our game show host; Joey Prime!

Meet Joey

Joey asks the player some questions. From there, a trio of celestial babes are introduced.  They respond to questions you’ll be able to select your favourite answers . Based on that, you can choose which planet you’d like to date.


Then, after a quick trip across The Universe, it’s smooching time!

The dating show part of the game is pretty solid, and we’re really looking forward to fleshing out the last bit. It’s been a fun experience putting this weird little game together. We’ve certainly made ourselves laugh in the process and hope the game will get some similar responses from the Ludum Dare community!

Greetings from Team Perfect Match in Cape Town, South Africa, Earth!

Team Perfect Match Hi
We’re a three-man gang comprised of  programmer Ryan Mazzolini, artist Ben Rausch and sound-design Jason Sutherland.
SCL initial ideas
We had a lot of fun playing around with ideas for LD30. It felt like there were a bunch of interesting directions we could take things in. We spoke about a creepy migration through space, A kid delivering oxbjects between different realities and A planet bridging resource management game. In the end, the idea that most captured our imaginations, was an interstellar dating show.


We’re creating Star-Crossed Lovers as a series of mini games. The player will take control of a planet who is the contestant on “Worlds Connected”, a dating show where planets find love and win a trip to the same location in the universe, causing a large amount of destruction in their wake.


We’re pretty excited about the idea! We hope it will land up being something really fun for the Ludum Dare community to play!

So I just finished my second Ludum Dare entry ever. I didn’t fail quite as hard as my last entry and I actually finished something! I was one of a few guys jamming in the University of Cape Town venue in South Africa and it was quite alot of fun.

So my game is called “A Conglomerate of Pixels” and you’re basically a pixel that runs around sticking to other pixels which give you properties. Built entirely in Unity3D and www.bfxr.net. Play my game and tell me what you think!
