Its a New Day!

Sunday, December 11th, 2016 9:28 am

Well after over sleeping I now find my self a little behind my time schedule, but that is not a problem I can rework things to give myself enough time.

In any case Good Morning everyone!

I find that I have a nice long to do list for today’s development most of which is polishing certain things with my game!

I hope everyone is having fun!

And again I cant wait to see all the finished games!

Updates on Updates!

Saturday, December 10th, 2016 8:24 pm

So I decided I was going to play around with some of the space I have on my personal website by uploading the game to my website. I then decided it would be really cool to add an update feature to the game, which automatically searches for an update from my website when the game is being played.

Here is a very basic title screen showing the updater in action, and yes, if you click ‘OK’ it will automatically download the new update!

Update Screen in action!

As you can all see from the screen the current version of the game is in the bottom left corner of the screen and the update is the next version number up. I need to make some tweaks later for lets say multiple patches etc but for the time being this works perfectly!

So all in all its been a very productive day and I am happy with the point I am at. So I think after basically working on it for at least 20 hours I am going to get a good nights sleep and get on with the finishing touches tomorrow.

Limitless Softworks is the name of my dev team, even though I am a solo developer currently!

Hope everyone is having a great time and are making good progress with your games! I cant wait to see all the finished products and with that I bid you all a very good night!

Happy Making!

One Room – My Variant

Saturday, December 10th, 2016 8:34 am

Well as I have already stated I have taken a little inspiration from the old but still very fun to play, Gauntlet.

I have created a Portal Room and through this one room the player can venture to different realms within the world.

In each realm there will be a set number of goblins to slay, each realm has a specific type of goblin in it and all realms have a unique Goblin Mini Boss after all the goblins in that realm have been defeated.

Portal Room

Sneak Peak at my Portal Room

As you can see the graphics are still very basic. However at the moment I am just working on getting all the mechanics in place and make sure they are working properly. Currently all of the portals are working and ill leave it to your imagination which portal goes where. Some of them will be easy to guess however some of them may not be what you  think they are.

Below is the simple concept of the portal room and although there are some differences such as the lay out, that will hopefully be changed in the upload version of the game. The layout for all of the maps are very simplistic at the time being, as stated before I am working on the mechanics the athstetic factor of the game will be greatly improved before the upload .exe is made.

Okay so its a little rough but its only a concept for how I would like my goblins to look.

What do you all think ?

Software and Ideas

Friday, December 9th, 2016 10:40 pm

Okay so been playing around with a couple of ideas and well I have chosen to make my game in Game Maker Studio: Professional.

For my graphics I will be using a mixture of the image editor in Game Maker and Photoshop CS6.

I haven’t really gotten round to what i’m going to use for sounds.

So now that my software usages are out the way time for a sneak peak at my idea.

Okay so RPG games are my life and they are what I aim to make in the future. So for my idea I am going to make a small RPG game taking a little inspiration from Gauntlet.

The game is going to be called Goblin’s Bounty and is basically about going and killing goblins. Through progression through the game the player will then face off with the goblin king where its either game over or you win the game.

I’m not entirely sure how I want the winning scenario to play out just yet but I’m sure ill think of something.

So time to start hitting the programming and getting some game mechanics in place. Graphics will then be added and then i can start working on some epic sounds for it!

Hope everyone is having fun with their own projects and again, best of luck to everyone!

However my computer is fully functional and I will be entering the Jam.
