I am super excited! Well, as much as I can be when sleep-deprived and braindead!

This is my first ever Ludum Dare submission and it’s been a brilliant experience. I’ve learned so much in the last 2 days and will definitely try to take part in the next LD!

My game page is here (with a proper write-up, controls etc). I hope you enjoy it!

Good luck to everyone still working on their games! Can’t wait to play lots of them! 😀

Some progress!

Well, the main game mechanic is now done. There’s lots I’d like to add but they’ll have to wait until after the competition!

I’ve got my menus in now. All that’s left is some audio (which will take me ages!) and then some tweaks to gameplay if I get time!

Here’s how it’s currently looking:

It’s taken a long time to get to this point, but I’m finally able to share a screenshot of the game I’m working on! 😀

I’ve got most of the core mechanic finished this morning, but still have a lot of game flow and menus to do. And all the art and audio. It’s going to be a super busy day trying to get this finished!

Here’s the work-in-progress shot:

Hey everyone,

So this is officially my second attempt at Ludum Dare. Last time I got distracted and ended up making fun tech demos in Unity and didn’t finish a game within the time limit. This time, I’m determined to not be so easily distracted!

Like last time, I’m using a Mac and I’ll be making my game in Unity (C#).

I’m hoping to make something 2d, or built out of simple 3D primitives since I’m a coder and art is my weakpoint. For my coder-art, I’ll probably use Inkscape, Paintbrush and/or Pixelmator. I’ve been practising with Inkscape in the last week and have hopefully got the basics figured out.

For audio, I’ll probably be generating those in as3sfxr, or recording some if I get time.

My biggest challenge is going to be to not get distracted. That’s going to be difficult since I’ve got the One Life Left christmas party tomorrow night! My current plan is to:

  • Get a good night’s sleep tonight and wake up nice and early!
  • Check the theme and come up with my design. I’m planning to keep the design really simple. If it can’t be made within the first day, it’s too big.
  • Have a basic game set up before I go to the OLL party.
  • Have some wine to celebrate/commiserate the amount of progress made so far!
  • Then Sunday can be for improving, tweaking, polish…or panicking! 😉

My desk’s set up and all my software’s updated and ready to go. Now all that’s left to do is hope that one of my favourite themes is chosen!

Here’s my setup:

Good luck to everyone taking part! Looking forward to seeing all the awesome games that get made this weekend! 😀

Hi guys! This will be my first ever Ludum Dare and I’m really looking forward to it!

I’ll be making my game in Unity (written in C#).

Since I’m a developer with no artistic skills, all art will be coder art! It’ll no doubt be simple primitives if 3D, otherwise I’ll be making something 2D and creating assets in Inkscape/Paint.

For audio, I’ll use sfxr, otomata or any other free audio tools I can find! Would appreciate any recommendations as I’m clueless when it comes to audio!

Looking forward to seeing all the games! Good luck everyone :)
