That was a fun gamejam! Even without the ratings…
So I finally got around to adding a new level (or the start of one anyway), recording some gameplay video, then editing it into a trailer and a Steam Greenlight entry.

I wanted this simulator to be as authentic as possible, so I spent a lot of time studying archaeologists in movies and in video games. In Archaeologist Simulator you play an archaeologist exploring some ancient ruins, but other teams of archaeologists from rival museums are finding more treasure and ancient technologies than you are! Luckily you brought your shotgun!

Got my computer bad guys aiming (and shooting) working!! It wasn’t too hard, my AI was already making the model face the player, just had to do a bit of math voodoo and tell the gun to aim at the player too. Does it look weird close up? Maybe, but no one will ever notice because when it happens you’re getting shot at!!
Done for today, I have a level full of archaeologists just waiting to be slaughtered. When they die they drop ancient coins, which you need to operate the ANCIENT TECHNOLOGY.
I’ll save fixing this buggy behavior for tomorrow. My super villain archaeologist with a gun never aims it at you properly, but he still tries shooting it, best of all if you circle around him he ends up shooting himself.
EDIT: What does everyone use to make their animated gifs? Mine doesn’t seem to work…
I’m in!
Going to use Unity, Visual Studio, Photoshop, AutoDesk Character Generator, and the UFPS Unity asset.
So please vote for themes that would be great for first person shooters.
I made the lumberjack for my game, then I realized it’s sexist to only have male lumberjacks. So I made a lumber jill too!
It’s hard to see with the lighting, but she’s got a beard too.
Looks like complete crap with a first person camera, especially with lumber jill’s normal map adding depth to the texture. But from top down you can’t really tell!
I think I made reasonable progress in my jam entry “Lumberjacks Must Die: The Story of Treesus”.
After playing around with Unity’s terrain editor I’ve got an acceptable looking clearcut forest. That Japanese Maple in the middle of the screen is you. Now all it needs are some lumberjacks to fight, and it’s done!
Pretty easy! The next step is playing Fallout 4 tonight and all day Sunday, then making the lumberjacks and their AI and everything sometime late Monday night.
I’m in for the jam!
Unless the theme is “two button controls” or “non-violent combat”. What kind of game only has two buttons or non-violent combat?
I’m in, and I feel like making an Oculus Rift VR game. So vote for a theme I can work with!!
I’ll be coding in C# with Unity 5. Making art with Photoshop Elements 11, and maybe a little bit of Poser 9.
I just submitted Bad Weatherman to the jam. Hopefully you all have fast internet connections because the zip is 250MBs. :O
I ran out of time to do a lot of things, so I just went with a simple high score game. Where you try to soak as many people as you can in 60 seconds with your unconventional weapon.
Almost done my game, but will anyone play it if it’s over 500MBs? :O
