Dont like my game; dropping out.

Sunday, August 28th, 2016 10:07 am

I just don’t like it; it was a bad game idea, and i don’t really have the motivation to spend the next 9 hours making it better. Ile still submit what i have, but i did not work on it at all today. It’s just that i would much rather spend time on other more fruitful projects then polish up my shitty LD entry <_<

Progress report 2

Saturday, August 27th, 2016 10:44 am

After a lot of ragefilled moments with bytebuffers and bitwise operations in java, i am now able to display text to the virtual calculator screen useing the font used on TI’s graphing calculators.

Now i need to start programming the games the user will play on the calc. First one is gonabe pong ūüėõ

Progress report.

Well, we are 1/4 of the way through. Ever since i woke up today i have been writing boilerplate code for LWJGL, as well as the calculator “simulator”. Now however i have stuff show up on the calculator screen, and i can now start programming the games, which will be played inside the calculator “simulator”.

I have desided that different parts of my game will take place inside 5 different graphing calculators. This wont be exact emulation of the calculators, but rather a simulation. So the question is Рcan i use preexisting skins in my game and submit as compo?

By “skins” I mean this:¬†https://github.com/rogersachan/Wabbit/blob/a41282980e58aecc7ba038abbed4c0fa93b483d2/WabbitStudio/Source/Wabbitemu/gui/TI-83.png

etc.

If eveey thing goes alright, this will be my second ludum dare :)

Language: java

Libs: LWJGL

Audio/music: I was originally planning to use my fender guitar + amp + random audio recording progam to record music/sounds, but given that I messed up restringing the guitar and have no other strings ime afraid I won’t be able to :8

I will most likely make something 2D, but a 3D project won’t be entirely out of the question.

Beware the crappy GUI! (progress report)

Wednesday, October 8th, 2014 5:02 pm

Hmm… Not much game mechanics implemented… In-fact non at all! Well i take that back (see list bellow) But one thing ime ‘proud’ of is my GUI :) (suriusly, its creating an “optical illusion” on my monitor)

About me: Ime an 13 year old male java programmer.

About the game: I made this¬†game originaly for the TI-84 graphing calculator(download here), but now, almost one year later, i decided to make a pc clone. in¬†the game you ” bounce a laser(s) to hit the target(s)” -me. The original got a 8/10 on ticlac.org.

PC version done list:

  • Most menus/GUIs
  • basic UI(mouse control, dragging level, zooming¬†level)
  • some level file reading.

PC version to-do list:

  • Better/more mouse control (Id Est … auto move level while zooming … interacting with level)
  • finish level file reading
  • Sprites
  • And more…

sorry for bad grammar ime tired

TI-84 game anyone?

Saturday, October 4th, 2014 5:34 pm

So, I present lazer(with a Z!), a game made about a year ago in the middle of algebra class. This is made for the TI-84, and  the as a fellow graphing calculator programmer pointed out will not run on the TI-83 (usually TI-84 programs can run on a TI-83) .

In the game you must spin mirrors to bounce a laser(s) into a detecter(s), while passing through portals and avoiding boxes. An epic puzzle game for graphing calculator! Futures 45 levels. (I might get a calculator so.. More levels soon?(I made it on a borrowed TI-84)). It received a 8/10 rating on ticalc.org .

anyway! If you wish to download go there–>¬†http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/459/45934.html

Dimension jumper: progress report.

Saturday, August 23rd, 2014 9:36 pm

In this game you basicly jump between dimensions to avoid obsticals, wile fighting police officers and destroying there spawners.

So i have the most important aspects done, including:

  1. movement/jumping
  2. bug fixing loading / saving. (it came as part of the engine, but i revamped, mostly so i could save entitys, a future i wont even use).
  3. finding loopholes to annoying bugs in the engine.
  4. Jumping dimensions.
  5. bullet physics
  6. pollice force.
  7. spawners ECT.

Latin

Thursday, August 21st, 2014 7:03 pm

“Dare” = give

“ludum “= game

this website = “to give a game” BUT is called game give (“ludum dare”).So should it not be “dare ludum” ?

ime no expert at Latin and my source is google translator.

So i made this game. any body wish to try it out? im a bit afraid it wont run on mac, so any mac users out there reedy to test?. But any body feal free to download and comment how many fps you get (center right).

Her is a download: https://sites.google.com/site/thekuznetsovproject/java-programs-and-games/cube-game-cave-game/run3.jar?attredirects=0&d=1

I’m in

Saturday, August 16th, 2014 1:27 pm

OK so i already wrote in of these posts but i have an update. I am 13 years old and learned java last summer. I also happen to be the creator of the most powerful GPU ever built in Minecraft.

Any way enoufe bragging, here are my tools:

MANDATORY:

Language: Java

IDE: Netbeans

Graphics: paint.NET

Sound: sfxr

OPTION A, 2d game:

game engine: c4 lazy lib 2d, my own game framework

OPTION B, 3d game:

library: lwjgl (an open GL,CL and AL wraper)

I might make a game for both campo and jam so lets see.

I’me in!

Sunday, August 3rd, 2014 3:24 am

As you can see by the title i’me in!

here a list of stuff I will be using (or trying to use):

Language: java, its good easy and i’me used to it.

IDE: NetBeans IDE, alot of people use eclipse SDK but:

  1. NetBeans is the official java IDE
  2. it can be installed with two mouse clicks

Game Engine: c4 Lazy Lib 2D, has tuns of customization and greatly improves java game dev. Also its made made by me :)

Graphics : paint.NET

arduino: jfxr

Thats pretty much it!!

So i made a tutorial on haw to use the Game and graphics classes in my game engine/api. Remember: i your using my game engine you can open a window with graphics and eminence customization in 5 lines of code.
http://youtu.be/lw54KH_8bZE

I am happy to announce that my game engine now has a tile engine with collision and such. Although i don’t have a good tutorial yet i will post a download here¬†Beware of a tutorial *soon*.

Thanks for everything,

me.

Many people had trouble extracting and playing my game (i think putting jar files into rar files is what confused them :-) So i made a post-campo version. to get right in here is a cross platform jar file (this time i used the fat jar file creator to combine all 2 jars into one!) and for you windows imperialists (like me!) here is a windows exclusive version :-)

here is a list of bug fixes and new stuff:

  1. The “quit” button now works
  2. Game now correctly resets after death, fixing the “life after death” glitch.
  3. epic death animation for the x-wing star fighters
  4. even more epiccer death animation for you
  5. once that animation is over the most epicly written  quote is displayed (i wont spoil it for you)
  6. My game engine now supports text and alpha channels so… better graphics!

To counter all the peaple not knowing how to play my game i wrote a step-by-step (actually its not :-) guide for you (or is it?)

  1. press “play to play”
  2. most importantly, the sensitivity is pretty high, to turn tap the key very *gently*. like this: d :)
  3. press mouse to shoot
  4. killing them will gain you money, which is displayed in the right hand corner.
  5. press menu and a menu will slide up.
  6. press upgrade in the menu that just appeared to enter upgrade mode.
  7. if a location has a “x” over it, clicking that location will sell the tile at that location
  8. if a location has an “check” over it clicking on thaqt location will buy the selected tile and place it in the clicked location.
  9. near the top is a list of tiles you can buy (just by guns, and only guns) press one to select one. (selected one is displayed in top right corner)
  10. thats about it! thanks for your paciants ile update this if i remember more stuff :-)

thanks,

German Kuznetsov
