So, what, over two years ago? Since then I’ve got a lot better at making games. Hopefully I’ll make an interesting on this weekend. My tools:

Unity (Asset store tools: InControl, Behavior Designer, A*, MasterAudio, ParticlePlayground and Prototype are all subject to being used, but not guaranteed)

Photoshop CS6

Cannot decide if I’m going to do it in 2D or not

Nearing the end

At this point, I’ve finished everything except for music

I thought I was doing pretty good, but man looking at some other games that have been popping up, they just look downright fun. I’m starting to wish I didn’t panic upon seeing the theme and resort to making a *fairly* standard platformer (there are a few quirks in there). But, on the other hand, I’m glad I have taken an idea from concept to full creation – even if it could be a bit more original. I suppose that is for next LD!

Almost there

I have the vast majority of my game made. I’ve tested and tested and finally got the entirety of it fun – and now just need to focus on polish. My plan is to finish the actual game tonight, and then work on sound effects, visuals, and other such things tomorrow.

Most of my level design was done with a pen and paper, so I plan to upload that afterwards. It’s been a good day.

Flying by the seat of my pants

I’ve got the introductory video and gameplay all programmed, so at this point I’m designing my levels. It’s really coming together nicely. I wouldn’t be surprised if I added another gameplay mechanic before tomorrow, and might even make some changes for a sort of boss fight …

This has been a great learning experience. So far, I’ve been accomplishing what I’ve wanted to accomplish – learning how to make a game with HaxeFlixel. I’ve at least solved a frustrating bug that cause me to actually scrap my project before because I thought it was ruined, but encountered again and decided to conquer.

My game is actually an adaptation of an idea I had some time ago. My gameplay currently isn’t all that innovative – I guess I’m not very creative. But I am learning a lot for when I go on to start making my ‘real’ game after this.

Can’t wait to play everyone’s games!

I’ve spent the last year or so developing small prototypes in Unity 3D, and just recently found the beauty that is Haxe / NME / HaxeFlixel. Planning to make a really fun 2D video game, hopefully it’ll work out.

My tools:

Code: Haxe NME w/ HaxeFlixel

Editor: FlashDeveop

Art: For characters and animation, Aserite, and for my maps PyxelEdit

Sound: I’ll be composing original music with Cubase, and getting sound effects with bfxr

Misc: Tilemapping with DAME

I’m really doing this to get back into 2D development, and hope to create a solid personal codebase. It should be really fun! Can’t wait to see what everybody does, and hopefully we’ll learn a lot from each other, and play some fun games along the way!
