Getting the balance right

Hasn’t been very much working on the game as there has been other things to work on at the same time. But I’m starting to get the basic mechanics to start working. The idea of the game is the simulation of a garden/field of ground where there grows grass, flowers and trees, and that you should be able to decide a side(a growth) that you hold with and lead to total domination. Or another idea could be to try and keep things in balance as the environment and other events changes in the favor of different growths and you need to apply counter measures to keep one growth from taking over it all. So the base of the game is simulation of how the plants grow depending on light and close growths and their size(level) of the close growths. Trees cast shadow, grass needs light, flowers even more light, but trees can’t grow if there is to much other big growths nearby, so too much of one destroys the other so the winning part can expand. It is also more parameters in the play, but I found when it comes to keeping things balanced, it can be a challenge- But I’ll get something to work.. I hope.

Think I’m done whith the game for this time now. I’m pretty satisfied whith the result this time, better than I was whit my last two entries at least. And my friend that helped me can now say he has been part of making a game… HAPPY HIM :)

The story of the game is thata you are a shadow-creature suviving by steling the soles of other creatures, mostly during night, but at day you need to posess the creatures instead, to take shelter from the daylight that kills shadows, and keep them alive till night comes again so you can refill your sole-energy to survive. You can’t die by physical damage, but your posessed creatur can, and you better not leth it do during dylight. Try to survive as long as possible and score as manny points as possible.

5th time I join in for Ludum Dare, this time it will be for the jam again, with a friend. I will most probably be using my own framework for java this time also, and my toolbox is made up of the folowing, at least for now:
