Music Battle is Done!

A weekend well spent building Music BATTLES among friends!

So Freddie, Michael, Axl and Angus got on a dispute on who is the biggest Rock Star and are figthing each other using the golden mike of rock!
Quite happy with the result, hope you enjoy it playing, as much as we did while making it.

Go check it out in the voting section.

The available version all have the 2 gamepads and 2 keyboard controls hardcoded. If anyone wants a 4 gamepad version, let me know and we can make one available.
Maybe a controller selection screen would be a nice after LD improvement.

Halfway through

I’ve got to say I wasn’t very happy with the theme.
Everything I could thing was always too complex.

Anyway, better do something. Decided to do a shot’em up.
So far I’ve got the basic component system, where you can customize you ship.
I wanted to start working in the graphics, but I still need to make a game out of this, so enemies moving and items to pick up should be next.

Directions to move, X to shoot, and M to enter and exit from the editor.

Lets jam!

Two months since I moved to Singapore and is Ludum Dare time. Lets check how it is to participate from the other side of the world :)

I’ll be using either HaxeFlixel or Flixel. Sfxr to duct tape my lack of sound skills.

Please let me know if someone is planning a gathering in Singapore.

After a good night of sleep I came back to work in my game. Already completed the final level of my game and started adding the enemies.

I’ll leave you a few screens of the current levels.

So here are the first screens of my game. I watched one episode of “The Lost Room” last night and it has inspired me a lot for this game. Hope it gets out right!

Count me in!

One more LD is near and the sweet smelly of theme voting is the air.
This year me and jrrt are trying to arrange a gathering in our University of people interested in participating in the LD.

I’ll probably use flixel. I though to give a try with haxe, but I didn’t have a chance to try it before the weekend, and the LD isn’t the best environment to discover haxe for the first time.
Sfxr will be in charge of the sound.

Happy game dev everyone!

My LD comes to the end

My second participation in LD is about to finished. Already submitted my game .

This time it went a little better. In LD#19 I decided to work with javascript and html5, but in didn’t go that well. This time I went with Flash. This LD was the perfect opportunity to build something that had more resemblances with a game using Flash. And it was great. Flixel is simply amazing. Kudos to AdamAtomic for building such great tool.

Ludum dare still has more 14hours to go, but I already had my share of work.

Keep the awesome work and feel free to go by my entry and leave comment.

Lets begin

12 hours have gone by since LD#20 started. It was 3am here in Portugal when the theme was announced. I only had time to give it some thought and went to dream land to prepare it.

Just so everyone know, my breakfast/lunch was sea food rice, but I didn’t take a picture. Maybe I’ll show photos of my next meals :)

And now it’s time to get it started. I’ll be using flixel, and probably nape/box2d if needed. The ambient music I was thinking in Otomata. I really like the looping sounds it produces.

Given the theme, I’ll take the path of a plataformer where an item takes a special role. Lets begin!

Happy game development

Probably the Final Version

After 24hours of been working in the LD I got something I don’t mind calling the final version.

Although being a small story, I proud of the end result. Much more than I expected 24 hours ago. 😛

I could do a lot of improvements in the remaining time, but I’m already too tired, and I’m needing some rest.

Loved the experience. Hope to be able to participate in the next LDs.

You can find the latest version in here!

Ok, I’m starting to think I won’t deliver a full experience, but I kind a like how it is turning out. Let’me know what you think.

Let’s say it has a very very short story.

Check it out here!

In the spirit of sharing what we are doing, I’ll share my nicest asset of them all:

My little space rock, if can fly, space travel, and land and take off :)

Good Morning everyone!

Well, after a good night of sleep I’m ready to start. The first 9 hours where used to search in my dreamland for ideas to bring to life in this LD.

Me and my buddy jrrt, joined in Coimbra, Portugal to (try to ) develop some mad awesome games in this, which is our first, LD #19.

He should have posted by now  a photo of our workspace.

Let’s get started! Go! Go!

Getting Ready

Hi everyone,

This will be my first Lundum Dare and it will be a awesome opportunity to improve my technical and game designing skills. Surely this will be a fruitful experience.

Taking in to account the variety of attending users, I’ll probably will develop for a browser platform (with canvas) using a framework such as Sprite.Js along with Box2D-JS to handle physics.

Since my experience in Sound effects is almost none, I’ll be using Cfxr for its random goodness.

Graphics will be of the responsibility of  good old (Photo) “GIMP” (Shop) 😛

And I think this is all.

I wish everyone good luck, happy coding and awesome games.
