OK, so not much is done.

It took 5 hours to get jumping though, so that’s my excuse.

Play it and email me at crocojim18@gmail.com to tell me what you think (although there isn’t much to think at this  point)

Install python first, and then pygame. That is if you need to. Or if you’re on Windows.

It’s on the bottom.

Ideas and sturffs

Ok, so 3 hours and 10 minutes in, and I already have an idea and a prototype.

The game is called “The Adventures of Master Bad Guy”, and I already have a sprite and an object-oriented semi-platforming  engine down.

I say semi because it doesn’t work yet. This is my first time attempting a platformer, and I am ok with that. I’m not exactly looking forward to winning (at all) as much as I am looking forward to learning new things. And that’s good because that’s all I’ve been doing.

I was told I need to make an “I’m in” post.

Python 2.7, using the pygame module (specifically 1.9.2).

(I’ll post how to get to that later)

Probably mostly Photoshop, although on occasion when Photoshop irritates me, I use MS Paint and then make things transparent in Firework.

I’ll probably either use FamiTracker, or Audacity with some ukulele-ing I can play or some other assorted baby-type instruments I have (from when I was like 4). But probably a mix of both.

I will be triple-wielding Windows XP, 7, and Ubuntu 12.04. Yes, I will literally be going back and forth between those. I’ll probably spend most graphic design and coding on the XP computer, 7 if I use FamiTracker, and Ubuntu if I use Audacity (which I promise you I will). I will do my best to make it both Windows and Ubuntu accessible, but I have no promises for anything else, simply because I cannot test it on anything else!

Unlike everyone else it seems like, I am using NO pre-written code or libraries or special things or whatnot. I guess pygame kind of counts as a library, but it doesn’t seem to fit for some odd reason. It’s more of a module, I guess. Anywho, I want to do my best to make this from scratch, to the point where it’s almost like a personal challenge for myself.

I will do my best. It’s what a Boy Scout does. And in the nature of a Boy Scout, I will sit inside all day and look at a computer screen.

I apologize. Pygame is naught more than a library wrapper thing. I am sorry. I have lied and shall be publicly executed.

Well, here we are

But not again.

This is my first time for Ludum Dare, and I am so so so so so excited. I am shaking in excitement. I don’t even care that I have no plans and no idea how I’m going to pull this off. I just like competition, I guess. And programming. I love programming. I could do that all day.

But that all happens tomorrow.

It’s only a day away.
