Working on Geometric Calculator

Posted by
Sunday, April 7th, 2013 2:21 am

Hello there everyone!

For the last seven or so hours I have been developing a “super” calculator. The calculator is not like an ordinary calculator as it eventually will be able to instantly calculate many things about certain shapes as long as you have enough information to supply. The calculator will use a series of GUI menus and buttons to narrow down what geometric shape and type of calculation of that shape you want. So for example if you wanted to find the Volume of a Sphere, you would first click on either 2-Dimensional or 3-Dimensional, then you’d click on whatever calculation that fits in that category, in this case, Volume, and lastly the shape that fits the previous 2 categories.

After you have selected the calculation and shape you want, you will fill in the required measurements and it will calculate what you have asked it to do. Some calculations could have different combinations of requirements so there will be many options for the measurements that you need to fill out.

This program will really be helpful for programming as, depending on what dimension you’re programming in, can help you with a variety of situations. Such as finding distances, volumes of objects, and much more. The calculator could also be used to help you with homework or any other situations that you can think of.

Since this program is still in very early development, there isn’t much complete BUT you can keep track of my progress on my github REPO and, from time to time, I have uploaded a JAR file for anyone who wants to try it out for themselves. Currently I have only tested the JAR on a Windows 7 Operating System, so MAC & Linux users may or may not have problems running the program. The download URL for the JAR is found in the README.md file found on the github REPO here: https://github.com/bigbass1997/SuperCalculator

Finished Up For The Night

Hey guys. I am finishing up for the night and getting ready for some much needed sleep. I have made some good progress. Although I dont have a name for it yet I will explain what you have to do in it. The point of the game is to grow a tree from a seed as fast as you possibly can. To determine how fast or slow the tree grows, there are different levels for how much water is currently in the pot and how much sun the tree is getting. You must add or subtract sunlight and the water level to find the fastest way to grow the tree, but you must be careful not to over water or vis versa, because if you do, the tree will eventually die. Only I will know the best amount of water and sunlight that you need to grow the tree the fastest.

Once the tree is fully grown the “weight” of the tree will break the table and pot that it is sitting in and crash to the floor! The timer will then stop and show you how long it took you to grow the tree. Below is a picture of the 2nd phase of the tree’s life.

I will continue livestreaming at about 11AM CST (http://twitch.tv/bigbass1997)!
