I’m in. (Totally original title)

This will be my forth attempt at an LD.

Last LD didn’t go to well for me because I attempted to learn ASM and code homebrew in a weekend….. I should have learnt a bit more before I tried to do it, but thats in the past, and I’m ready to try another LD.

My tools this are:

Langauge: C++

Library: OpenFrameworks

Text editor: Nano + Textedit + Unitron

IDE: Xcode (I’m likely to stick to using the command line, Xcode 4 is a bit to intensive of an app sometimes. So I’m likely to build with “xcodebuild” instead of using the IDE for it.)

Image editor: Pixelmator + Pixen

Sound: Garage band + cfxr

(Vote for kittens!)

ASM is more confusing than I thought.

I’ve been working on my vectrex game, and I’ve encountered a lot of issues.

The two main bugs I’ve encountered are the input and the output………

The issues with the input is that it does not accept it at all, totally not sure why but I’m working on it. The issues with output is that the whole way of drawing is confusing. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn’t.

I’m going to Northern Ireland today, so I will be able to work on it without the distraction of the internet, I know of an internet cafe in the area I’m going to, so I will upload my game there if I’m done.

This will be my third LD 😀

I’m going to write a homebrew game for the vectrex, something I’ve wanted to do for a while.

I’m going to use:

Assembler: AS09

Text Editor: Notepad++

I’m ready to battle time its self again for the second time.

My tools will:

Code: Xcode 4(IDE) and Openframeworks(Library).

Art: Pixen and Pixelmator.

Sound: CFXR and GarageBand.

I’l most likely end up making an arcade shooter like game, because thats what I do best.

My Battlerig.

So usual stuff for me, Openframeworks, Pixen, CFXR. So not much to say about that. Not sure if i’l finish, I’ve never done well in these Mini LDs. I kinda have an idea already so thats good.

One level down, two more to go!

I finished my first level… It took me a day and a half, and I’m hoping to be able to do it twice in 9 hours, with much more complex stuff….. I’ve done all the graphics I’l need, got some sounds and an epic first battle/level. I also have a idea for an ending, which… well. Its an amazing ending lets just say. 😀

More progress… including the ability to shoot down epic spaceships!

You get to kill it now.

I’m added collisions now, so you can take down the big ship of doom! It won’t shoot back at you yet but I want that to be added by the end of today. The tomorrow I can added more battles. I need to make some music/sound but I’l do that last minute. You have to ‘discover’ where to hit the big ships.

I’m now making an arcade shoot ’em up, the only type of game I can make…

You play a ship an shoot big monsters. 😀 Anyway its called “PAINLESS”, its all black and white, I’m using the apple ][ font for text.

So far you can shoot and move around. The plot makes it fit the theme….

I’m making a weird digging and finding gold game!

I’m started working on a game were you walk in a mine and try to “discover” gold. Its going to be randomly generated. I’ve drawn most of the art’ll need. I need to get the generating thingy working.

Everyones doing it so here it is!

Nothing special, no second monitors, no extra computers, only one laptop.

LD19: What I’m using.

So everyone is posting posting the tools they are going to use, so I thought I might as well join the bandwagon.

>> Code – Xcode

>> Library – OpenFrameworks+Box2D

>> Sprites – Pixen

>> Other art like things – GIMP

>> SoundFX – CFXR

>> Music – Garageband

>> Computer – Macbook Pro 15″

I’m most likely going to “borrow” my sisters laptop to compile a windows version, just got to install Code:Blocks and OF.

Mini LD22 – ‘D2 – 1’ (aka weird 1D RPG)

I’m going to be working on this strange game I was working on a few months back called ‘D2 – 1′. It was originally meant to be a side scrolling Beat’em up but I’m going to turn it into an RPG. I got bored while making it and never got back to work on it.

Heres a screen shot.

Rather bland, but it’s 1D.

EDIT: Current Version: http://www.mediafire.com/?8348mapozjmbp99 It requires Open Frameworks.

Space Waves, Didn’t finish in time.

I sadly couldn’t finish the game in time, I couldn’t fix the sound.

I’m still going to work on space waves, It could be quite a fun game if its properly done. I wish I’d known a bit more about OF with the iPhone before I started.

Anyway congrats everybody for making some really good games, they all look great fun! I need to try them all out!

I had a lot of fun doing this,  it was something I’d want to do again.

P.S can’t wait for the mini LD this month!

Space Waves, Gameplay is done, now just SFX and save.

I’ve been working on getting sound to work on space waves, it wasn’t working….. And I just found out why. It turns out ‘ofSoundPlayer’ hasn’t been ported to the iPhone like the rest of OF, turning into one big headache for me to find out why it wasn’t working. I found out after searching on the OF forum, and looking at the last page.

I’m going to use something called ‘ofxiPhoneFile’ for saving. I just got to work out how it works.

I’m going to make sure that enemies  don’t spawn on top of each other and then finally submit it to apple.
