I didn’t have very much time this weekend so I decided to keep it simple. I wanted to create something where the gameplay itself would be pretty straightforward to implement, allowing me more time to focus on other aspects.

All you have to do is match your entity’s energy to that of the beam of energy flowing towards you. LMB switches to Light, RMB switches to dark. That’s two buttons, but I also implemented a difficulty modifier that “grows” as the game goes on. So I guess I’m going for both themes with that one. Hitting dark as light, or light as dark, kills your entity. Upon dying, you’ll get a stats screen detailing your run. How good can you do?

The game starts off pretty easy, but I added a difficulty setting to the Options menu so you can ramp it up if you’re after a challenge. I’m pretty happy I managed to create what I created in the 12 hours that I had.

Why not give it a shot and see what your highest score is? How far can you make it on the toughest difficulty setting?

There’s a WebGL version so you can give it a quick play:
