Play Sergei’s Virus Here!

With just a day (and a bit more!) left, any programmers want to help me hit 100 ratings? And I’ll check out your game if I haven’t already (I’m nearing 200 coolness as well)!

The following is an updated gameplay gif (with a couple of hints!) that represents how most people (including me) play the game! ?

P.S. I’ll just toss in a quick game recommendation: Pluto’s Tears.

A slightly different game for you programmers :)

Play Here!

So this was my first ludum dare (and also my first game, come to think of it) and it has been a fantastic experience. I’m having a lot of fun playing other people’s submissions and interpretations of the theme!

I worked on a team as a programmer with a friend (SnedHlepPls) who made the fantastic music and visuals for Dance Dance Pathogen! Our jam went so well that I even had time to work on another game that other fellow game programmers might enjoy (now that you’ve recovered from your game dev burnout, haha), called Sergei’s Virus.

Essentially you shapeshift (boom, theme drop) your virus (written in python, cuz that’s how hackers do it) so that the antivirus doesn’t detect it. Obviously, it involves the following steps:

  1. Remove print statements
  2. Remove numbers
  3. Remove for/while loops
  4. Alter strings so they don’t contain the word “hack”
  5. Remove if conditions
  6. Remove all assignments (i.e. no “=”)

And at the end, you have a python script that’s totally readable (see: sarcasm). It’s not going to be an easy game, but it was a lot of fun to play. I even (embarrasingly) had to ask one of my friends to help me solve the final task for my own game!

And while you’re reading, check out my other game Dance Dance Pathogen!

What better motivation to make a first game than a hard deadline?

Let me just put this here:
