Slow progress

So after having to go and do a lot of Christmas shopping today I got some time to work some more.

  • Mouse control of the Villain (at the bottom of the screenshot) is working fine now.
  • The Hero’s randomness is working quite well the Villain can’t just hide in a corner anymore.
  • The Interrogation list (tempted to call it the intera-goat-ion list :-p) is working. This gives the player feedback on what questions they’ve been hit with by the Hero.
  • Audio is also working – the questions “ping” off the sides as they bounce and the Villain has a funny “agh!” sound when hit with a question.

Still to do:

  • Menu
  • Highscores
  • Question tweaking – I’d like to make some questions larger sizes than others
  • Hero AI – hopefully I can get him spewing questions the longer the level goes on!

Some art done and the basic hero firing questions is working.

Changing the question path from straight down the screen to variable x-coordinates has made a big difference.

First a nap and then collision based monologuing…wow there’s a phrase I didn’t think I’d ever use!

Okay so I think I have an idea…

What do villains do a lot of? Talking, monologuing and letting the World know how great they are.

This usually happens when the Hero is at their weakest. All the waffling gives the Hero time to recover and escape.

The idea I have is the Hero will shoot questions at you which, as the villain, you must avoid, if you get hit you will start to monologue and the Hero will move closer to safety.

But first…

BREAKFAST!

The timing for LD25 couldn’t be better this year, I’m on 2 weeks of holidays starting today!

I’ll be working with the following:

Language(s): HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Editor: Komodo Edit

Art: Inkscape

Audio: GarageBand and maybe my Bass / Guitar.

Best of luck to all my fellow jammers, I can’t wait to see what everyone produces!
