I guess you’d call this a post mortem.
Anyway now that it’s been over a week since Ludum Dare started I figure I’d talk a little about my entry.
I am extremely happy with how the game turned out. Obviously a game made in such a short period of time can’t be perfect but I feel like I’ve made a really good game. This feels like bragging, sorry.
People’s comments have also been mostly positive. Shaun Spalding gave it quite good praise on his stream and that made me feel really happy about it.
The comments on Newgrounds have been good as well, some just state that they enjoy it but others provide more detail critique which is nice.
But people have also brought up some issues with the game. Most of them I agree with.
1) The game is scrolling for no apparent reason.
Yeah at first I thought of this as an endless runner so it made sense for the game to scroll. Then I realized that it didn’t really turn out like an endless runner but kept the effect because it made the background less static. It also made the blood move off screen in a cool way.
This will most likely be fixed in an update.
2)The spikes are way too tough.
It’s interesting because I made them move slow so you can get a chance at avoiding them but making them slow makes them tougher because they stay on screen for longer. I blame a lack of proper testing. It’s also the only obstacle you can’t shoot.
I think if I simply make them faster the problem is fixed.
3) Walls don’t block you. They also don’t block enemy bullets.
This is because I coded the walls in a strange way. I have a theoretical idea on how to fix them so I guess we’ll see how that goes. But yeah the walls are weird. Should be an easy fix.
4) Mobile port?
Some people have said that this would make a great mobile game. I completely agree and I have made a functional android port of the game.
It’s only available for invited alpha testers as I want to test some balance changes before making it available on the public.

You need an android phone and a google account!
That’s it! I’ll answer any questions about the game in the comments. If you haven’t played the game go do it!
I really appreciate all the comments and videos! Thanks everyone!
