Last time was awesome, so I’m doing it again!

My last game for LD30 came 36th Overall which I was pretty happy with (This Is Your World Too: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=40190). I probably won’t beat that since I’m super unprepared this time, but looking to explore some other avenues, maybe improve on the Art and Innovation categories.


This time round, I’ll definitely be looking at the same core principles I focused on last time (Design, Interaction, Accessibility), but with a focus on the following:

  1. Adaptive/Responsive – How can the actual canvas or device that the player is using, be incorporated into the game mechanics themselves?
  2. Art Style – Looking to make something special looking :)


Tech-wise, I’ve been looking into ThreeJS and PhaserJS recently, but don’t think I have explored them enough to be comfortable jamming it. Therefore I’ll probably stick to the same as last time, using my own developed shells for HTML5 Canvas 2D games. Tried to Twitch stuff last time, but my crappy Australian cable is too crappy, so I will probably stick to my Twitter/Vining on @Pud9y.

LD48 first timer. Entering /compo.

Looking to focus on these elements for my Ludum Dare:

  1. Design (with a focus on visual design and art style)
  2. Input (explore what unique controls can be provided using web technology)
  3. Accessibility (at least in part, making some aspect accessible for the physically impaired)


  • HTML5 Canvas 2D (no framework, pure JS)
  • Whole Adobe Creative Cloud (let’s play CC bingo, what program will I not open?)
  • Cfxr (just discovered this, it’s awesome)
  • Garage Band for live recorded music? (maybe)


Just uploaded a couple of templates that I’ve created for some past projects, adding here in case anyone else wishes to use them (although you probably all have your choice of frameworks anyway).

JS Game Boilerplate


A boilerplate for creating 2D Canvas games from scratch without a framework. Includes some common functions and a default stage and loop setup.

WebSpriteAnimationKit (SpriteWebkit)


Something I built to easily render spritesheets in the canvas. Super unoptimised but should do the job for now. (Included in JSGameBP).
