I’m sort of in?

Posted by

Free time this weekend is at an all time low, I may just try to wing something in a day or so based on the codebase from my previous LD entry.

Using Unity, C# with the wonderful 2D Futile as the game library, SFXR as the sound library, Garageband as the music maker.

Looking for testers for the iOS App!

Hey folks,

I’d love to get some feedback on how the game runs on your iDevices for my compo entry Deep: Beneath the Surface! I’m particularily after how scaling affects those of you with iPads both big, small and retina.

I have an open Test Flight invitation you can join the team with. Provisioning is a bit slow as I have to manually add your device ID and push out a new build for each group of testers I add.

Thanks!

Starting to feel like a real game!

I’ve done a bit of a UI and a bit of polish on the game so far but it still feels a bit lacking but oh my god I deployed to my iPhone!
I AM EXCITE

If you’d like to try it, beta available here: Deep: Beneath the Surface

I fought a lot with C# and Futile so far but I’m seeing some progress:

What’s your coding soundtrack? (again!)

I originally posted this same question almost three years ago and got a lof of nice responses.

I’ve got some favourite albums kicking around for myself this time:

  • Crystal Castles – Crystal Castles III
  • Bag Raiders – Bag Raiders
  • Birdy Nam Nam – Defiant Order
  • Power Glove – Blood Dragon OST
  • Vangelis – Blade Runner

With the possibility of the odd nursery rhyme if I’m trying to get my new son to sleep!

What’s your soundtrack this time around? Has it changed from previous years? Are there personal favourites that never leave the queue?

I’m in!

Disappointed there’s no local jam here in Sydney! Hit me up if you’re local and maybe we’ll gather up for a post-mortem drink next week!

Last time I had to bail out early due to my newborn son getting sick halfway through LD27 but I at least had something to show for it. It’s a bit of a rough start with the Australian time zone difference but I’ll see what I can manage this time.

My tools:

– Unity3D / C#
Futile Library for Unity
PyxelEdit
– Audacity for sound editing
BFXR for Sound effects
– Garage Band for music

This is a relatively new set of tools for me and if I’m not feeling motivated I may switch back to good ol’ Python/Pyglet under the beautiful editor PyCharm but non-web stuff is such a pesky barrier to getting people to actually use your stuff!

edit: added pyxeledit, audacity and garage band

Breakfast of Champions!

I’m awake! Ugh.. sort-of. I’ve got to do the main game logic today and part of my brain is telling me REWRITE THIS CLEANER but I don’t have time for fancy smancy stuff when it’s sphagetti code go-to time!

Starting to burn out a bit :|

Work is getting a little slow and I can feel myself starting to burn out a bit! I gotta get on the ball though since I skipped out on Linux North-By-Northwest for this!

Basic console and events are starting to come together though 😀

edit: oops, forgot the pic!

States in, overlays working.

This probably doesn’t look like much but I’m glad I’m starting to get somewhere programming-wise.

If anyone needs some hosting for their project, I can gladly offer some space on ahmeni.net! Just hit me up here, IRC or via email at ahmeni at ahmeni dot net, as long as the project is less than 100 MB or so I should be able to accommodate it for the foreseeable future.

What’s your coding soundtrack?

I’m putting together a nice mix of music for when I’m trying to blitz through some Python, here’s what I’ve got so far:

  • Chemical Brothers – 2006 album is nice and powerful, new 2010 album is much smoother
  • Boards of Canada – For those smooth reflective moments
  • Bloody Beatroots – For when I need that dubstep wobble

What are y’all planning to listen to?

Edit: two nice songs so far posted in #ludumdare, my shoutouts to

First Time Running

I’m worried about being able to pull anything off as it’s been a while since I’ve worked on, let alone even completed a project. I was hoping to sharpen up my pygame skills a bit tonight but alas, work is pretty busy and there is a thunderous drinkening happening at my abode and by golly I do love alcohol.

I’m still looking for some friends to hop in but the response has been tepid. Odds are this’ll be a solo attempt or possibly a Jam if I can get a particular friend to donate his musical skills.
