I’m in again! (And streaming on twitch!)

This is my 2nd jam, I learned last time that people didn’t understand how to play my game as it wasn’t obvious.

This time around it will be much easier to understand, I’ve brainstormed ideas for each theme that I think will get in.

I will be using:

  • Unity
  • Photoshop CC
  • opengameart (Website which is great for soundtracks)
  • Bfxr
  • Sfxr
  • Coffee (To keep me awake)

To people reading this; if it’s your first jam, what I learned in #LD36 is that sleeping matters, If you live in the UK and it starts at 1AM, don’t start then.

  1. Prepare ideas before you go to sleep
  2. Get a bit of sleep, start jamming at your normal wakeup time.
  3. Work on the game all day with short breaks throughout.
  4. Eat many many many many snacks
  5. Make many many many many cups of tea
  6. Sleep between Saturday and Sunday, have a lie in!
  7. Stay up til deadline adding as much content as you can.
  8. Release!
  9. Go to sleep again because you’re incredibly tired now.

Saturday you should be making a game engine and keep in mind ideas for the game

Sunday you should be adding all the content to the game and making it as easy to play as possible, replace the placeholder art ‘n’ stuff like that.

OR: Ignore me and do it your own way like I did last time, everyone has their own routine and you need to find yours. This is what works for me!

Good luck on your games, can’t wait to play them all!

Pretty good advice! I’ve only ever done the jam (not the compo), but sleep deprivation is by no means compulsory!

Thank you for advice! :) first timer here.

I gotta go sleep in couple of hours to get some sleep before it starts, when do we usually get to know the theme? I got ideas but theme really determines which I go with and build new ideas upon…
