Second chance post-mortem

I guess it’s time to write a couple lines about creation of my game before i forget everything while my memories are still fresh.


What went good:

  • Idea: even though i hated the theme, i came up with idea i liked pretty fast
  • Warmup: knowing the basics of engine i used (Godot) saved me a lot of time on LD itself
  • Engine: even though there were couple of issues, i think using Godot really improved productivity
  • Opening: when i realized i couldn’t make a (full-featured) game, i added some illustrations to the opening and it worked well

What went bad:

  • Scope: i planned too much and spent a lot of time on things that didn’t make it into final version
  • Sound: or lack of; but that’s basically result of having no time to spend on it. I could’ve cut some time for it, but then the whole thing would be even less polished
  • Lack of engine experience: Godot is still new to me and that made me waste quite some time
