The Factory

Not relating well with ancient technology,

but we think our quarky box protagonist meandering through this ole’ factory will be fun.

Finally have figured out how to do lighting in game maker.

All of the art done by my brother, Tanner, who’s working with me again for our second Ludum Dare.
Good Luck to you all!

I like the graphics! Looks like you’ve got a bunch of things working already, which is a good sign!

I would look more into the lighting though. It looks like you have a point light in the scene right now, but it seems to be positioned too far to the right. What games tend to use light for is to bring the attention of the player to where it needs to be. So think about where you want the player to look, and bring the light there. Judging by the gif alone, I’d say move the light a little more the left, where the boxes are falling down.

Anyway, best of luck to you and your brother! Hope you’re having a grand old time! 😀

Thanks for the tips! That actually makes sense. Using it to focus the player’s attention on important obstacles / items in the map definitely seems like a good user experience tip. My brother and I are having a blast this year :)

Thanks! yeah, I was starting to think it’s a bit dark as well. Probably need to boost the brightness a tad, especially in consideration for people who might have their monitors configured dim.
