Unfortunately, I can’t make it to this year’s Ludum Dare.

To be more specific, I can enter for about 10 hours annndd that’s it. I don’t have any more time.

So my question is – have you ever got into a Ludum Dare you knew you barely had time to?

If so – how do you feel about that now? Do you regret it? Do you like the spontaneous-ness of it?

Can you link the entry you made?

I presonally think I shouldn’t try to get in, but if you were in my place – what would you do?

10 hours is plenty! There’s a bunch of us that do a one-hour game jam at http://onehourgamejam.com/
I’d just use a really simple idea and try and execute in the time I had.

  2. I have participated 2 times knowing that I had very little time. It turned out pretty ok I think. I had to scale everything down to really simple graphics, simple game idea, and simple mechanics.

I dont see a reason not to join, even if it’s just 10 hours you got. You still get great experience, and it’s still fun!

I did a Ludum Dare in only 10 hours, It was’t all in one chunk, but it as 10 hours in total. I would like you the game, but I forget which one it was :P. Anyways, you should still give it a shot! If you end up not liking it, then don’t submit it, but at least you will have probably learned something along the way!

My game for Ludum Dare 34 only took a couple hours, and my team was all out of town. The theme certainly helped that time, but it’s very possible to make a game in 10 hours! If you need to, you can enter the jam, and use assets others have created. For reference, my shortly developed game is here: http://ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-34/?action=preview&uid=50639

I did my first LD in around 4-6 hours since I started from scratch in Sunday evening. 10 hours is plenty to make a game, as long as you keep it simple.
