Ludum Dare #34 – My First Dare

It was only last month that I decided I would enter Ludum Dare for the first time. Since, I had completely forgotten about it until 12/10/15, one day before Ludum Dare 34. I quickly typed in all caps in my Skype chat between the members of my dev team, “GUYS,” “DROP EVERYTHING,” “LUDUM DARE 34 IS TOMORROW.” I was determined to make my first entry for the Ludum Dare game jam. When time came to come up with an idea, I wanted to use both themes that tied, the one idea stood out in my head, Balloon Roulette. A game where, if you press the right button, your balloon inflates, and if you press the wrong one, *POP* goes your balloon. The idea, though simple would take me until Sunday at 22:00 to finish. By the time I was finished, I was quite satisfied with my simplistic, mobile-oriented game of chance, I pushed to my repo, built with Unity Cloud Build and submitted. The game has a fairly satisfying main menu, if I do say so myself, and a few simple mechanics that could easily make a popular game on the mobile market. As of now, I want to eventually release this game on Android and iOS, as I feel as if most mobile games are moving to a more simplistic style. Moreover, regardless what happens later on to the weird game that I submitted, no matter what ratings I get, I will definitely be doing this again. This was both a learning experience and a challenge, a very fun one. You will definitely be seeing something from me in April, for Ludum Dare 35.

As for my first submission, you can see it, play it and rate it at
