Preparing for BATtle!

First LD for me, and since my chances of being successful are minimal, I decided to have some fun and be slightly unorthodox with my pick of language.

As Orson Welles’ Said: “The absence of limitations is the enemy of art”, and what’s more limiting than the wonderfully horrible Batch scripting language.

so…
IDE: Notepad++
Code: Batch
2D: ASCII
3D: Extremely creative use of ASCII
Sound: 0x07 or preferably none

Worry not, good folks, I will not go fighting this fearsome dragon empty-handed, I’m preparing a rudimentary framework to assist me in the oncoming bloodBATh (I believe it abides the “personal libraries” rules, please correct me otherwise).

Good luck everybody!

Holy crap that is awesome! Best of luck to you. I’ll certainly be interested to see what you come up with.

  2. đŸ˜€ I’ll be looking for your entry. Good luck!

    Batch? Good lord.

That being said I’m happy to see some experimentation. The freedom and encouragement to do something wacky I think is one of the massive benefits this competition brings.

I’m looking forward to see what you end up with, I’m also a little scared.

    Good luck!

I am very, very interested in what will come of this.

Batch seems rediculous to me. I have made some text-based games before and the problem always seems that for decent “Graphics” the resolution was too low (using very tiny font and full screen can compensate).

Can you change the frequency of the system bell from batch? If so, you could probably write a program that can convert (simple) midi files to system bell commands. Of course if that is not hardocre enough, there are even more primitive methods of creating sound (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qoFpX9JJSc)

    Best of luck

    Thanks everybody!

I do advise you to lower your expectations for two reasons:
    1) We’re talking about batch, even I don’t know what I might come up with…
    2) Expectations are a bit stressing, and I wanna be batching for funsies :)

    P.S. I think I’ll go soundless…
