Fabric is in for the October Challenge

Hi all!

I made a game called fabric for the 7dfps challenge and I’m hoping to finish it up for the October challenge. The game will have a story mode with comic style cut scenes and a user created levels mode that people make with the in game level editor. I’ll probably put it up on Desura or Steam Greenlight when it’s finished.

It currently looks like this (click to see youtube video)

Fabric Alpha

Features to be implemented:

  • New type of bending block that only bends certain parts of the level
  • Transparent walls you can shoot through
  • Help messeges
  • Editor +¬†Online user level database
  • Single player levels + cut scenes

Well that’s it :D Please feel free to comment on what you’d like to see in the final product!

    Wow! That looks seriously great!
The bobbing and acceleration are way too strong for my taste, though. I’d like to have a little more direct control. Also I really missed some sense of purpose… i felt your gameplay couldn’t really lift the “I-really-want-to-see-the-next-level”-weight on its own. A simple story around it and some goals (maybe some collectables?) would really help in my opinion.

On Greenlight: I don’t think you have to or should choose Greenlight OR something else. Greenlight seems more like an additional option for which you really, really need a decent following and buzz around your game already to even have a chance (apart from Valve still having the last say, anyway).

    So start promoting ;)

      Thanks for the feedback :D
The new version is going to be much better, the controls are in the process of fine tuning and I’m adding new gameplay elements to make the puzzles more interesting(the original puzzles just weren’t good enough)..
I really agree on the lack of sense of purpose, I’m really working to tie the game to a solid sci-fi story, I’m also collaborating with a artist for the cut scenes, kind of like the ones in the first max payne..
I’ll keep posting updates as I go on and a playable build is coming soon :D
