What I wanted to do with A.D.A.P.T.S

Even though I was happy how the game ended up in the end, I do think that a few more features could have been added. I either considered it during making the game, or thought of it afterwards.

Gameplay

One main feature was to add gun types. There would be three guns – one slow gun which doesn’t overheat as quick, one medium rate gun which is the one in the game, and one fast gun which overheats far too often. Originally I did have this, but removed it before release. This would allow users to look out for a cockpit with a suitable firing rate.

Some sort of background effect was on my agenda, but I left it out due to time. I was to add random planets, stars, and sometimes meteors. It would have added a lot more depth into the game.

After playing the game, I’d like to know my current stats at any time, not just when I find a new part. But that’s just me, so I could have added a pause screen with the stats on.

I was going to add an intro and a main menu, but in the end I left them out to get the game finished in time. It would have made the game feel more polished, but I think the game is fine how it is – it immediately immerses yourself into the game.

The feature of some sort of tutorial for a newer player was thought, but in the end I decided not to add it, because it adds to the whole concepts of evolution – you have to figure out everything yourself.
